I remember most phases of the Bridge construction and walked across it when it was opened in 1932. Very recently I visited Dawes Point and was overwhelmed by memories of the immensity of the work that was performed in the Depression years in achieving its construction. People use the bridge every day but very few would give even a passing thought to the monumental effort that was required to effect a vehicular passage between Dawes and Millers points. The Sydney Harbour Bridge given the era in which it was built ranks with any other engineering project ever carried out in Australia, and this includes the Snowy Mountain Hydro-Electric project.

I have been on this bridge this year, and it looks bigger than it does in pictures, when I saw it in for real I was blown away.
